Set during the Vietnam War, A Season of Miracles is is a tremendous story of friendship forgiveness and grace. The author brings the joy of life, first crushes and coming of age that makes this time of life magical. The action and humor were well balanced, and the spiritual component exceptional. I did not want to put the book down. Tears, laugher and truth all weaved together in perfect harmony. Love it.
Really enjoyed the book even though I'm not into little league baseball. It was an endearing story of friendship & I enjoyed the references to places & names that I grew up with.
The author writes so realistically, it is easy to become absorbed into the world of 12 year old boys. The growth in wisdom and realization of what really matters is touching and inspiring. I highly recommend this book. I would give it 6 stars if I could.
What a great story. I read this book because they are making a movie of it and my daughter's dog is in the movie. It was a great book and I can't wait to see the movie.
I laughed, I cheered for the Robins, I cried--this is such an amazing story. I'm not a sports fan yet I sat riveted. I could not wait to see how the story played out. I highly recommend this book.
Definitely 5 stars. My favorite quote. "Believing in miracles is the first step. Believing in a personal Miracle Maker is the real hurdle."......rusty whitener
This book doesn't require you to be a baseball fan or even a sports fan. It is about the act of friendship and loyalty and children questioning why everything happens and how they deal with it. It will make you laugh and bring you to tears. It brings you full circle through the life of a 12 year old boy also told mostly by him and what he learns just by participating in life itself. I read it in a day and loved it.
