First-If you like Romance Novels with no Intimate scenes this is the one for you. Personally I like both but except for the Amish Novels I have't found one that was well written without those scenes.

I loved Dell and Jack, they were very well Matched and I loved watching them fall in love. It was like seeing something real unfold in front of me as I read the book. Every character was realistic and Honest.

This is a must Buy! I am so looking forward to reading more books by this Author.

Gold Rush Brides The Beginning Volume 1 Cassie Hayes 9781497453609 Books Reviews

Amazing. Loved it. Different spin on the mail order bride. In those times women had four options, if they were lucky they married a man who loved them, or grew to as some mail brides husbands did. They had a family member who took care of them even as spinsters, or theybwefe forced to find employment, and nit always in respectable establishments.

This book shows that mail order brides although some usedan agency, others like what will take place in these books, used a paper. What ever way, one knows that it was a brave, strong woman to make this choice. This book gives you such a woman.

I can't wait to see where we will find ourselves in the next story. And bonus..... this just happens to connect to the fountain of love series, which I love.

If you are looking for an entertaining love story with a touch of history, this choice of book will not steer you wrong.
I really enjoyed this book. It is an easy read and I finished it in one evening. Delilah Price comes to California expecting to be a mail order bride but finds out her intended has already married someone else. Not one to be vindictive or to pity herself she jumps in and makes a living for herself, first working for a boarding house owner and then starting up her own newspaper to bring more mail order brides to California.

Delilah is a plucky heroine I identified with. This book uses the hate to love theme well. She despises the drinking, gambling and womanizing Jack Dalton who lives in the room next to hers at the boarding house. He struck it rich in the gold mines and now he is blowing off steam. Of course, with the help of the boarding house owner and a bit of fate Jack Dalton and Delilah find they really do care about each other.

I thought the opening was a little slow and the ending a little fast, but the rest of the book was written well so I overlooked those flaws. Before Jack came to his sense I wanted to give him a good shake and was happy when he finally came around. I liked the original spin on this tale. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Cassie Hayes has a knack of creating such viable and endearing characters that are multi-dimension. Such is the case with Delilah Price, our female protagonist. Delilah arrives in San Francisco after an exhausting and hard sea voyage from Boston learns she is abandoned at the train station by her intended bridegroom. Determined not to return to her former life, Delilah vows she will not have other women face this tragedy and generates a solution and an action plan to start a newspaper devoted to matching prospective grooms with mail-order brides. Delilah typifies a Boston lady—filled with restraint, propriety and sophistication. The male protagonist, Jack Dalton, had a hard life and practically no real childhood but fortune changes that when he strikes it big in the gold fields of the Sierra Nevada’s. Jack typifies the western cowboy character—casual, unsophisticated, but compassionate.
Our two protagonists meet as boarders in the same boarding house. As one would expect their first interactions are not friendly as they seem to rub each other in the wrong way. Hayes has these two going off in two separate orbits until Fate intervenes. Delilah gets entangled with a charlatan and is on the verge of losing everything. Will Jack come to her rescue? Will they be able to make amends and work to bring Delilah’s dream to fruition? The answer to these questions can only be found by reading this book.
Hayes’ plot line is that of the quest. When we meet these protagonists they are both scarred by their previous lives. These diverse characters add to building the rising plot actions. Additionally, the supporting characters contribute to the rising plot action as well and help the characters as they each go through a metamorphosis. I like the way the plot line rises and parallels the main characters transformation. As part of their transformation each character faces a set of trials which typifies a quest plot line. Lastly, I enjoyed Hayes’ descriptive passages that allow us to step back in time to San Francisco during the Gold Rush. Vivid descriptions of the streets of San Francisco back then makes the reader are so realistic that you think you’ve been transported back in time. A must read!
I loved the book.
I read a lot of mail order bride and this one was very different.
Sweet, excited, funny, great characters even the bad ones, great storyline.
Delilah/Dell is a strong and kind woman. Her arrival in San Fran wan't that she dreamed of but she was lucky to meet Sam, a very good man whom will help her. He lost the love of his life and decide to take Dell under his wing.
Jack found gold and he is now rich and he just want to have fun. But that kind of fun can bring very bad things and very bad person in his world.
Dell and Jack meetings are always very difficult, he always make fun of her and doesn't care or even think he hurt her.
Until one day when he saw tears in her eyes. He always thought she was so tough, so he doesn't know what to think.
This book was really a nice surprise, easy to read and exciting. This book has NO cliffhanger.
I will buy the next one for sure. Thanks Cassie Hayes for sharing with us a good story
